Is the Food in Meal Kit Delivery Services Actually Safe to Eat?

At the rate that new meal delivery services are popping up, grocery stores could conceivably become a thing of the past. But with the overflow of these subscription services, some skeptics are asking about the negative implications - like is the food really kept at a safe, cold enough temperature during transit? Not always, according to a Rutgers University study. Speaking on the final day of the 2017 Food Safety Summit in a session on 'Home Delivery,' professor of human ecology Bill Hallman presented results of a Rutgers-Tennessee State University study that looked into the integrity of home-delivered dinners. What the researchers found raised concerns about pathogens, packaging, labeling and cold-chain integrity.
